Directions
Note: traffic on 50 and 80 can be awful. Not so
on 88.
Scenic Highway 88 provides hassle-free
travel to Kirkwood from the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, the Central
Valley and Lake Tahoe, as well as Reno and the Carson Valley. You'll find
the lack of traffic on Highway 88 makes it an excellent alternative to the
more congested Highway 50 and Interstate 80 when traveling to and from the
Lake Tahoe area.
From The San Francisco Bay:
Use Interstate 580, State Route
205 to Interstate 5 North, Route 4 East to Route 99 North, and Route 88 East
(3.25 hrs.)
From Sacramento Area:
Take State Routes 16 East, 49
South then 88 East through Jackson
(2 hrs.)
From Monterey Bay Area:
Take Hwy 156 East to 152 East
interstate 5 North, Route 4 East to Route 99 North. Route 88 East
From Lake Tahoe:
Take Route 89 South to 88 West

From Reno/Tahoe
International Airport:
Use U.S. 395 South and State Route
88 West
(90 min.)
Klingman's Special Route:
From Bay Area: Take 24 east to 680
North to 242 North to 4 east to Antioch. Take 160 North across the Antioch
bridge toward Rio Vista. Turn right at the signal onto 12 east to Lodi.
Cheap gas at 12 and 5 (Flag City). Take 5 North 2 exits to Peltier road.
Take Peltier road east across 99 - follow the main road (changes names, but
obvious) until it dead ends at 88 above Lockeford. Turn left on 88 to
Jackson. Continue through Jackson on 49/88. Turn left on 88 and follow it to
Kirkwood. Turn right at Kirkwood.
Once at Kirkwood
Once at Kirkwood, just stay on the
road, past the resort. it will turn onto east Meadows. Stay on it. The Left
on Columbine Circle and we are about the fourth house on the left (#975:
